The Challenge and the Setting
For many years, we have proudly supported Elekta in delivering life‑saving cancer treatment equipment across the UK and Ireland. Each delivery is more than just a logistical task, it represents hope for patients, support for clinical teams, and improved treatment capability for communities.
Working in major hospitals brings unique challenges including limited internal access routes and live clinical operations.
In addition, streets surrounding the hospital are critical routes for emergency service vehicles, which means any road closures have to be precisely thought out.
With every step requiring meticulously planning, any projects for Elekta needed to be carried out with sensitivity and respect for the hospital environment and its patients.

Our Solution: A Partnership Built on Trust and Shared Purpose
Every project we deliver for Elekta begins long before any equipment leaves our depot and starts with understanding the environment. Whether the destination is a busy private hospital in the heart of London or a major NHS hospital, the goal is always the same: ensure that vital cancer treatment technology reaches the people who need it, safely and with minimal disruption.
To do this, our team carried out detailed site surveys during the planning phase of these projects. In Bristol, close coordination with the hospital protected clinical operations, and road closures were arranged by liaising with emergency services to minimise disruption. Once permissions were secured, our six‑man specialist team carefully unpacked, transported, and installed the LINAC machine over an intensive four‑day programme, ensuring it arrived safely into it’s new clinical setting.
In London, the Harley Street delivery required navigating one of the most logistically complex urban environments in the UK. After working with Westminster Council to secure parking permits and manage road closures in this busy city, the Unity system needed to be lifted over a building, through a skylight, and lowered into a sub‑basement using a 300 tonne crane.

Over the four‑months we worked on the London project, our teams continued to return to site, managing additional deliveries, collections, and support as the installation progressed.
The level of coordination required was immense, but it was carried out with care and precision.
Across both locations, the work was not simply clinical and logistical, but carried real meaning. Pat Carter, General Manager at Flegg Projects, summed up how he feels about working with Elekta:
“We enjoyed doing these jobs because they’re cancer treatment machines and we’re doing our bit to help people.”
This shared purpose is what drives our partnership with Elekta. It’s why the projects are approached with dedication that goes far beyond the technical.
It’s a testament to what can be achieved when skilled teams come together with compassion, precision, and a deep respect for the communities these machines will serve.
